Eco Fluid, represented by its Executive Director, mr.Besnik Ademi, participated in the first workshop, "Innovation, Digitalization, and Green Investments for Resilience," held as part of the high-level Business Forum "Turning Sustainability into Competitiveness: Building Resilient Businesses in an Uncertain World."
In his address, mr. Ademi emphasized that sustainability is no longer merely a legal obligation, but a strategic commitment that creates long-term value and competitive advantage.
"In our operations, alongside the legal framework for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), we apply the principles of ESG, the Circular Economy, and the European Green Deal. We do so not because it sounds good, but because we believe this is the future of every successful business," said Ademi.
He noted that although Eco Fluid has been operating for only two years, the company has already achieved significant results. Through its established system, more than 1,300 tonnes of waste oil have been collected and recycled, a professional infrastructure has been developed across more than 200 automotive service centers , a network of over 500 partners has been established, and more than 60 educational events have been organized.
"However, if you ask me what our greatest achievement is, it is not the numbers. Our greatest success is that we have begun changing the mindset of both citizens and businesses regarding the importance of proper waste management and our shared responsibility toward the environment," mr. Ademi emphasized.
During his presentation, mr. Ademi also addressed the challenges facing the waste oil management system.
He identified several key issues, including insufficient awareness among some producers and waste generators regarding their legal obligations, the absence of a unified digital platform for the registration and record-keeping of producers, unfair competition from entities that fail to comply with legal requirements, insufficiently effective inspection and enforcement, and the need for stronger coordination among institutions and all stakeholders involved in the system.
The workshop focused on the role of innovation, digitalization, and green investments in strengthening business resilience amid increasingly complex economic and geopolitical challenges. The forum, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office, aimed to foster dialogue and exchange experiences on how sustainability can be transformed into a source of competitiveness, particularly for Macedonian companies, exporters, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Through its participation, Eco Fluid reaffirmed its commitment to developing a modern, transparent, and efficient waste oil management system based on the principles of sustainability, innovation, and the circular economy.
